Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha
Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha assumed the charge of Director Technical(Project & Planning), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, on March 7, 2025.Prior to his appointment as Director(Tech), Shri Jha served as the Area General Manager, Lakhanpur Area of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL). With over 35 years of extensive experience in the mining industry, Shri Jha has held significant positions in both Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL).A native of Durgouli village in Madhubani district, Bihar, Shri Jha holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) degree from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, in 1990. He obtained the First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency from DGMS, Dhanbad, in 1994. He has also visited numerous coal mines, different HEMM manufacturers’ sites such as Caterpillar, Komatsu etc., and visited the SIMTARS laboratory in Queensland, Australia. Shri Jha’s exemplary leadership has earned him several accolades, including the “Best Area General Manager” Award from Coal India Limited for the year 2022-23, the “Best Area General Manager” Award from the Ministry of Coal for 2021-22, and the “Best Area General Manager” Award for 2019-20.Known for his results-oriented approach and strong determination, Shri Jha has consistently demonstrated his ability to translate strategic plans into achievable goals that align with the company's objectives. A skilled communicator and influential leader, Shri Jha is committed to societal improvement and works tirelessly for the betterment of both industry and nation.
